Salt Hotels has launched the Aster, a new private members club and lodging concept in Los Angeles. Conceived to offer the best of a luxury hotel experience, the Aster accommodates 35 suites as well as a sprawling wellness suite, screening room, recording studio, cabaret, and rooftop terrace across six stories and 95,000 square feet. “Each space has a distinct aesthetic that is decidedly California—giving members and guests a sense of place,” says Salt Hotels chief creative officer Kevin O’Shea. “Each outlet is a unique destination in the building, designed to surprise and delight our members and guests.”
Old Hollywood glamour is captured across the Pool Room, where glass chandeliers, towering palms, and handmade tiles convey a refined sense of place. The Club Room serves as the nucleus of the property and further perpetuates Old World motifs with midcentury furnishings, a natural color palette, and a handpainted mural inspired by Japanese landscapes. The Cabaret Room transports guests to the clandestine basement haunts of New York courtesy of vintage furnishings, hand-colored plaster walls, and a stage accented by a pink velvet curtain.
Crowning the Aster, a sweeping rooftop embraces vistas of the city and its many landmarks, while large-scaled furnishings echo the rural swaths of California. The rooftop is also home to a modern lemon grove to pay homage to the lemon trees that once lined the landscapes of Hollywood.
Suites average 750 square feet and comprise sitting, dining, and dressing areas, as well as spacious bathrooms wrapped in a floral mural. A custom three-way retail mirror is also installed along with an in-room bar.
Amenities—from exclusive performances to wellness and educational programming—are available onsite, along with an expansive 7,200-square-foot restaurant as well.
