As the second quarter of 2022 closes, Dallas continues its lead on the U.S. hotel construction pipeline for the fourth consecutive quarter. The latest United States Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics (LE) notes that the Dallas pipeline comprises 173 projects and 20,707 guestrooms. Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, and Phoenix are also among the top five markets.
Dallas comes in third in the top five markets with projects currently under construction with a total of 25 projects and 3,725 guestrooms. New York and Atlanta hold first and second place with 78 project and 13,063 guestrooms and 25 projects and 3,905 guestrooms, respectively. The top five, which is rounded out by Phoenix and LA, account for 22 percent of the total number of guestrooms currently under construction in the U.S. Atlanta sits in first place with the most projects scheduled to begin construction in the next 12 months with 62 projects and 8,020 guestrooms; Dallas holds second place with 55 projects and 6,465 guestrooms.
Dallas also recorded the highest count of new projects announced into its pipeline during the second quarter with 16 projects and 1,654 guestrooms.
