Singapore-based the Fullerton Hotels and Resorts has unveiled its first-ever resort as well as its maiden location in Hong Kong. The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong was crafted by architecture firm Aedas to serve as a seamless extension of the coastal locale, evoking tranquility with a curved glass façade that elegantly ripples across twin towers reminiscent of the tides. Indoors and outdoors are organically merged thanks to an interior design by BLINK Design Group that weaves an immersive narrative that conveys a luxe sense of place.
“We love to create designs that tell the story of a place and the spirit of the brand,” says BLINK founder Clint Nagata. “In this project, we took elements from the Fullerton Hotels and Resorts’ global portfolio of properties to bring to life the unique stories of old Hong Kong sailing culture, Singapore’s diverse exploration of culture, the elegant intrigue of Sydney’s old CBD, and most importantly, an exploration of marine biodiversity in Ocean Park using refined design elements.”
Steep hills and lush greenery compose a dramatic arrival experience, set against warm timber panels in each portal. Reception and a pair of onsite eateries are housed across the residential-style first floor, whose inviting ambiance is amplified through natural materials and tropical foliage. “Guests at the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong will discover expertly selected textures and patterns all telling the story of local heritage and the district’s lush vegetation—from stunning patterns on screens and woven rattan finishes to bohemian chic, eclectic accents, and objects d’art,” Nagata adds.
Lined with handmade sisal-like rugs, the Lighthouse Lounge frames panoramic views of the South China Sea beneath 23-foot-high ceilings, while upscale Cantonese restaurant Jade and Singaporean concept Satay Inn occupy the second level. The third floor adopts a “garden of recreation” theme, complete with an expansive pool, conservatory, courtyard, and pavilion enlivened by a range of contemporary elements and decorative objects handpicked by EM Bespoke, which also contributed to the resort’s design. An outdoor terrace conveys a sophisticated-yet-laidback attitude, equipped with two suspended sofa swings and cushioned lounge chairs ensconced in greenery.
