Graduate Hotels has debuted the Graduate Ann Arbor in Michigan. The 204-room hotel replaces the Dahlmann Campus Inn, located at the gateway of the State Street retail corridor near Main Street. The University of Michigan’s athletic campus is also within walking distance.
The hotel’s collegiate style, designed by Graduate’s CCO Andrew Alford, conveys a coziness inspired by the culture of the town. Guests are greeted in the lobby by a large mural created by local artists depicting the work process of the university’s engineering students, from assembly to the final product. The academic motif is continued with a faux-painted ceiling of books in the lobby and a series of decorative chalkboards filled with equations. The lobby’s 40-foot-long communal table encourages collaboration, with seats for up to 60 guests.
Guestrooms are also designed with a college theme, featuring charcoal gray flannel walls and accents of plaid and wood. Inspired by Ann Arbor’s Nickel Arcade, bathrooms and entryways are marked by mosaic tiles, while vintage-style artworks also make subtle reference to the town’s culture and sports history.
Four boardrooms and three 300-person ballrooms are included among the hotel’s 11,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, and onsite restaurant, Allen Rumsey Supper Club, is expected to open its doors later this summer.
