AJ Capital Partners has relaunched the newly restored Pontchartrain Hotel. Located in the Garden District on St. Charles Avenue, the 106-room hotel was redesigned to honor its original architecture and history. It was previously built in 1927 and gained notoriety for its high-profile guests like Tennessee Williams, who completed his play A Streetcar Named Desire while living at the hotel.
Led by CCO Andrew Alford, AJ Capital Partners’ in-house team crafted the new design to feature a color palette inspired by the character of the neighborhood. Tones of crimson, emerald, and whisky gold grace the lobby, intermingling with rattan furniture, antique mirrors, and curated artwork to establish an elevated sense of luxury. A mixture of mint, peony pink, and ivy green complement the European and Caribbean-style furniture in each oversized guestroom.
Onsite F&B options the Caribbean Room, the Silver Whistle Café, and the Bayou Bar are also returning thanks to chef and New Orleans native John Besh and his management team Our House Hospitality. Lush greenery, white tablecloths, rattan furniture, and classic wood paneling complement the Caribbean Room’s preserved Charles Reinike murals. Reclaimed wood, rustic finishes, and an original impressionist Bayou mural add warmth to the tavern-style Bayou Bar, while the Silver Whistle Café shows off its original architecture and seating. New rooftop lounge Hot Tin offers 270-degree views of the city and the Mississippi River while conveying a nostalgic 1940s energy.
