The Redbury New York hotel has unveiled its new lobby lounge as part of its comprehensive update by Brooklyn-based design firm Home Studios. As the first phase of the hotel’s grand redesign, the revamp of the lobby showcases an evolution of style while weaving the building’s history dating back to 1903 when it debuted as the Women’s Hotel, the first women’s only hotel in New York.
Located adjacent to the elevators, the upgraded lounge demonstrates an energetic juxtaposition between shape and texture. Shaker-style seating are installed alongside sectional sofas reminiscent of the 1970s, in addition to the Birch-armed easy chairs set against warm wood accents evoking midcentury flair. Adorning the walls are blackened steel light fixtures and brass rounded mirrors illuminating the palette of light green, yellow, and white.
Visual interest is further provoked by eclectic art books, ceramics, and other décor details, while the marble-topped bar anchors the interior against a backdrop of rich walnut accents and notes of bold neon. Curated by Union Square Hospitality Group, the bar is positioned as the social epicenter of the hotel offering an all-day menu.
In addition to the revamp of the lobby, the hotel’s 259 guestrooms will also undergo a facelift next year, and feature a sophisticated design with neutral gray walls in contrast with dark, herringbone carpets.
