The Renaissance Chicago Downtown has announced the completion of its $32 million restoration, marking the conclusion of the hotel’s second phase of renovation. Phase one, which enhanced the lobby and guestrooms, was completed last April.
The 560-room hotel now boasts 4,000 square feet of new meeting space, including the new 3,000-square-foot Looking Glass ballroom, which overlooks the Chicago River. The existing Cloud Gate Ballroom now stands at 4,000 square feet thanks to a 1,000-square-foot expansion. The hotel’s three third-floor breakout rooms have been renamed Adler, Lyric, and Improv to reflect some of the city’s landmarks, .
Chicago-based the Gettys Group oversaw both interior designs and rebranding while the John Hardy Group managed both phases of renovation. The revamped lobby now features stadium-style seating to accommodate audiences for Chicago’s Celebrate the Neighborhood events. Raised, the hotel’s new indoor-outdoor rooftop bar, also houses a private event space called Urban Blue. Styled with elements of glass, iron, and reclaimed wood, the lounge can host 200 guests.
