Hilton Worldwide will introduce its Curio Collection in Belize with the Resort at Mahogany Bay Village in San Pedro. The 60-acre property will not only be Hilton’s first in Belize, but also the country’s first luxury resort from a global brand. Beth Clifford will serve as the design and development director for the project and interior designs will be provided by Amanda Lindroth of Lindroth Designs and Julia Starr of Starr Sanford Designs.
The resort will include 205 cottage and villa-style guestrooms as well as private residences, bay and beach clubs, and a spa. The Village, the property’s lively public space, will mirror San Pedro’s bustling downtown and offer a general store, a craft and farmer’s market, hair and nail salons, and multiple F&B options.
Belizean-style villas will be clad with sustainably harvested hardwoods and include lofted ceilings and heirloom-quality furniture. The resort will also include the 22,000-square-foot Great House, which features three floors, a covered wraparound veranda, and 8,000 square feet of meeting and event space. A specially designed bride’s room, available as a dressing room for weddings, will also double as a 12-seat private event venue.
Located on the Ambergris Caye, the resort is nearby an array of attractions like rainforests, river caves, Mayan ruins, white sand beaches, and more than 200 diverse local eateries. Construction on the resort will adhere to operating standards aligned with the preservation of natural resources, utilize local materials, and minimize waste to not impact the local coral reefs. Architecture will be designed to amplify airflow in order to reduce the need for air conditioning.
