Grupo Habita has debuted its latest property, the Robey hotel in Chicago’s Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhood. Designed by Brussels-based Nicolas Schuybroek Architects and Stekene, Belgium-based Marc Merckx Interiors, the Robey honors the Art Deco roots of its home in the city’s historic Northwest Tower, with its original limestone-clad façade and a rooftop of cupola and lantern.
A minimalist palette of glass, natural wood, concrete, and chrome spans the interiors, along with herringbone hardwood floors. A warm, contemporary aesthetic defines each of the 69 guestrooms and suites, which are spread across 12 floors and feature walls of vintage chicken-wire glass partitioning bedrooms and bathrooms. Communal spaces showcase terrazzo, natural woods, and tones of red, green, white, and gray.
The ground floor is home to Café Robey, a French-American concept that features double-height ceilings and is backed by Milwaukee and North Avenues. Up & Up, the expansive 13th floor rooftop lounge, features indoor-outdoor bar spaces, and a rooftop pool will open alongside the Cabana Club eatery in spring 2017.
