The Seagate—a luxury hotel in Delray Beach, Florida—has unveiled a multimillion-dollar, property-wide renovation. The refresh impacted the lobby, 157 guestrooms and suites, event spaces, pool, beach club, and dining outlets.
Led by Brooklyn, New York-based firm Watts & Dray, the transformation marks the property’s first major update since opening 15 years ago.
The redesign combines Anglo-Caribbean design styles, which are classic to the Delray Beach region, with the Old World warmth of Florida’s traditional coastal homes. The concept is brought to life through a palette of sand-colored limewash paint, accents of Dutch blue, and delft tiles hand-painted in Amsterdam.
“Our vision for the reimagined Seagate was to create spaces that were structural, charming, worldly, and art-filled, while being functional and comfortable for guests,” says Vanessa Watts, partner at Watts & Dray. “To achieve this design concept, we carefully selected world-class vendors to partner with to create custom and handcrafted accents and art pieces throughout the property. This approach allowed us to work with small vendors to create one-of-a-kind elements to elevate every corner of the resort.”
Collaborating with Indiewalls, the design team curated a selection of art pieces that enhances the resort’s coastal charm. Additionally, designer Marc Phillips was enlisted to create luxury, handmade accent rugs.
Meanwhile, the two-story, 3,500-square-foot Seagate Beach Club—which spans two Mr. Seas dining options, a members-only pool, and more—was renovated by Saguez & Dash. The venue, located directly on the beach, offers panoramic views from every seat in the house.
“We were thrilled to be part of an amazing team that repositioned the Seagate in Delray,” says Saguez & Dash CEO David Ashen. “The beach club was particularly special as it’s been an iconic institution on this beach for many years. The transformation has created a venue that celebrates the history of the property and creates a fresh and sophisticated new club for the resort and community.”
The Seagate also recently wrapped up a renovation of its 18-hole championship golf course, designed by architect J. Drew Rogers. The updates included reshaped bunkers, expansive new green complexes, practice facilities, and enhanced water hazards along the tree-lined fairways.
Furthermore, Bourbon Steak Delray Beach, a restaurant by Michelin-star chef Michael Mina, is expected to open onsite next month.
