Charlestowne Hotels has launched the Spectator Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina.
Nestled in the city’s French Quarter and Market Street districts, the three-level, 41-room hotel was developed by local developers Batson Hewitt and Jay Keenan and collaboratively designed by architect Steve Ramos of LS3P Associates and interior designer Jenny Keenan—also based out of Charleston.
The 31,000-square-foot hotel’s name and aesthetic derive from the popular spectator shoe of the 1920s and 1930s. Onsite wrought iron railings twist in homage to the shoe’s discernable stitching, and an eclectic Art Deco style vintage and stylized Hollywood-inspired decorative touches are evident throughout. Lowcountry millwork and furniture crafted in Indonesia adorn guestrooms, and amenities include complimentary bicycles—such as antique replicas with high wheels and tandems—specialized butler service, locally sourced in-room F&B options, and an Art Deco-inspired bar.
