Standard Hotels is set to add a flagship hotel in Asia this May with the opening of the Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon. Located in Bangkok’s central business district within the 78-story King Power Mahanakhon Building, the 155-room hotel is being crafted by Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon in collaboration with the Standard’s in-house team to reflect the distinctive verve of the Thai capital.
“There is nothing in Bangkok, or the entire region, like what we have created here,” says Amar Lalvani, executive chairman for Standard International. “We love the energy, style, and culture Bangkok offers and couldn’t be more proud to partner with King Power to open our flagship for the region in this awe inspiring building, in this incredible city.”
Vibrant colors and fluid shapes will characterize the design, which will be punctuated by rotating art installations as well. In addition to an alfresco sky beach and an outdoor terrace anchored by a pool, the Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon will feature a lineup of F&B and nightlife options, including the first international outpost of the Standard Grill and the first Mott 32 location in Thailand. The Parlor will serve as a hub for live music, while a tearoom and lounge will invite guests to unwind.
