The Standard will introduce its first hotel in Europe this July inside the former Camden Town Hall in London. A colorful contrast to the city’s often gray climate, The Standard London will be designed by local firm Shawn Hausman Design and will convey the lighthearted spirit the brand is known for.
Located across from the iconic St. Pancras station, the hotel will welcome travelers and Londoners with a fully activated ground floor that previously served as a public library space. Conceived by ceramicist Lubna Chowdhary, a tiled turquoise feature wall will be a key focal point along with a grooved timber service counter. Beneath exposed ceilings, interiors will be further punctuated by colorful plush carpeting, textured glass, and heavy-set wooden doors. In addition to an onsite bar and recording studio, the hotel will also be home to three restaurants including a rooftop venue overlooking the cityscape. The Standard London will comprise 266 guestrooms and suites—some of which will be equipped with their own private terraces and outdoor bathtubs.
The July opening of The Standard London will round out the brand’s footprint to six locations in the U.S. and now the U.K.
