Zeppelin Hospitality, the hospitality arm of Denver-based Zeppelin Development, is set to expand its influence in Colorado with the launch of two alpine getaways later this year. The Western hotel and spa will open in the heart of Ouray, while the upscale A Frame Club will debut in Winter Park.
“With this team, we’re excited to take mountain hospitality back to where it started with the friendly, community-driven culture that Colorado is known for,” says Zeppelin Hospitality founder Kyle Zeppelin. “The focus is on understated luxury that celebrates history while being more connected to nature and outdoor recreation. We are pushing the envelope with the highest standards for accommodations and club level amenities that match—and in some instances go beyond—urban markets.”
Originally constructed as a boarding house in 1891, the 16-key Western will receive a full restoration by Montreal-based designer Rachel Fortin. Modern furniture and artwork will enliven the property, contrasting Victorian sensibilities like stained glass, tin ceilings, millwork, and handpainted wallpaper. Onsite amenities will include a general store, a saloon and restaurant, and a subterranean grotto spa comprising treatment rooms and horseshoe-shaped hot and cold plunge pools. Eight queens, four family rooms, three king suites, and one bunkroom will be featured across the guestroom lineup, and will feature ensuite amenities like kitchenettes and fireplaces as well.
Inspired by 1970s nostalgia, the A Frame Club will span 31 cabins nestled into a wooded two-acre site in Winter Park’s Old Town overlooking the Fraser River. Portland, Oregon-based studio Skylab Architecture will craft each of the 475-square-foot accommodations, which will be oriented around central courtyards. The sunny two-story cabins will comprise a living room on the main floor, a kitchenette, full bath, and lofted bedroom accented by a freestanding Onsen-style soaking tub. Warm cedar panels, custom fireplaces, and vintage furnishings will exude warmth as they compose a classic chalet aesthetic.
