Thompson Hotels is set to unveil its maiden Texas outpost next month as part of a $460 million historic preservation effort in Dallas—the largest adaptive reuse preservation in the history of the Lone Star State. Set within the former First National Bank Tower, Thompson Dallas will be overhauled by Merriman Anderson Architects with local studios Interiors Limited and Todd Interiors collaborating on the interior design scheme.
The Thompson Dallas will draw upon the city’s rich legacy to weave a narrative of modern luxury. Restored elements include original wood panels inlaid with brass lining the walls of the ninth floor, while more than 17,000 hand-cut marble panels—cut from the same quarry used for the Parthenon—adorn the façade. Spread across 14,000 square feet, the National Ballroom on the fourth floor will feature three walls of floor-to-ceiling windows, 20-foot-tall ceilings, as well as private suites overlooking the ornate space. On the hotel’s 10th floor, the chic-yet-casual Nine at the National will serve as a buzzy restaurant, lounge, and rooftop bar. Additional amenities will include an onsite barbershop, floral design studio, art gallery, spa, fitness center, and resort-style pool.
Home to 219 guestrooms, including 52 suites and two penthouse suites, the hotel will boast accommodations averaging more than 700 square feet. Each chamber will be outfitted with walnut and brass headboards that echo the onsite restoration efforts, while blue lacquered walls and rich leather upholstery will infuse opulence.
