Thompson Hotels has announced plans to launch a new outpost in Washington, DC as the first new hotel project in the Yards, the city’s reemerging industrial neighborhood. Slated to debut in early 2020, the 225-room hotel will serve as a modern hub and community anchor that embraces the area’s maritime past.
Studios Architecture will collaborate with New York-based interiors firm Parts and Labor Design on the project, drawing inspiration from the character of the Navy Yard through industrial patterns and textures often found in historic naval structures. Copper, metal, and tones of emerald and ivory will span the interiors, while dark iron bricks, metal paneling, and a dark gray façade adorns the exterior.
All 38 suites, including two spacious Thompson suites, will feature views of either the Anacostia River or nearby Nationals Park. F&B spaces will include a restaurant on the ground floor, a lobby lounge, and an expansive rooftop bar. A fitness center and 4,000 square feet of meeting and event space will also be featured among the onsite amenities.
