The Thompson Zihuatanejo in Mexico has wrapped a major renovation courtesy of locally based firm Andres Saavedra Design. Set along the coast of Playa La Ropa, the redesigned lifestyle resort channels the natural beauty of the setting across its upgraded, midcentury-style spaces.
Traditional Mexican art and architecture span the interior, which was revamped in collaboration with the in-house Thompson design team. In addition to décor sourced from local artisans, the design is accented by native stone finishes, Mexican mosaic tiling, and brightly colored handwoven rugs. All 56 guestrooms and suites overlook the Pacific Ocean and feature distinctive living spaces and private terraces or balconies. The Thompson suite boasts its own outdoor entertainment area—complete with a wet bar. While most include private infinity plunge pools, 11 swim-up suites offer outdoor rain showers and terraces in addition to the shared private pool. Adults-only and family-friendly pools are also featured onsite.
The resort includes F&B options such as Spanish eatery Ceniza and beachside restaurant and lounge HAO.
