Argentinian hospitality brand Urbanica has arrived stateside with its first U.S. property in Miami. The Meridian hotel features 71 guestrooms and designs from local architecture firm Shulman + Associates influenced by the city’s urban landscape.
The open-air lobby welcomes guests with a communal workspace and bustling café, the Food Marchand. Centerpiece elements include an expansive wooden bar and coffee tables crafted from railroad ties, while the reception area’s welcome desk comprises various pieces of vintage luggage, making an artful statement. A mural from street artist AholSniffsGlue adorns the walls leading to guestrooms, paying homage to the Wynwood Art District with hypnotic eyelids illustrated against a grayscale palette. A breezeway is also installed between the lobby and lush onsite courtyard.
Ranging in size from 180 to 360 square feet, guestrooms comprise five configurations, all of which include white window drapes, a cool color palette, and a midcentury aesthetic. Bathrooms are clad with an illuminated mirror and white-tiled showers with sleek glass doors. More spacious club and terrace suites are equipped with private furnished balconies that overlook the property’s pool. The two terrace suites split the top floor of the hotel and enjoy panoramic views of the treelined neighborhood from terraces installed with tasteful furniture, exotic flora, and hut tubs.
Adjacent to the rooftop pool is the Chill Out room, a climate-controlled cabana space encased in floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and a 120-inch projection screen for movies or gaming. Midcentury modern furniture throughout adds a vintage beach house vibe to the space.
