With panoramic views of lake Obersee and the Graubünden mountains in Arosa, Switzerland, the sustainable Valsana Hotel & Apartments, owned by the Tschuggen Hotel Group, will welcome guests this December.
A short walk from a ski lift, the lodge comprises 40 guestrooms and nine family-styled apartments and will be the first hotel in the country powered by an ice vault, an underground thermal energy storage system that allows excess energy to be stored. It is also equipped with an electric vehicle charging station.
Drawing inspiration from the area’s natural surroundings, Roman Mooser uses eco-friendly materials for the architecture, while interior designer and Ascona native Carlo Rampazzi selected furnishings and décor that match the hotel’s eco-conscious ethos.
The lobby, lounge, and restaurant Twist, complete with an outdoor terrace where patrons can dine lakeside, merge for a seamless transition between the three spaces. A spa will offer saunas, a steam bath, and a pool.
