Vantage Hotels has announced the launch of another Lexington brand property in Gangneung, South Korea. The full-service hotel will carry Vantage’s Value Hotel Worldwide name, which is how Lexington Hotels are known in South Korea. The new location is the brand’s fifth new-build in South Korea, following the opening of the 300-guestroom Suwon property and the ongoing developments of soon-to-be-completed projects in Seogwipo, Sejong City, and Jeju City.
“There is such a great need for world-class lodging in many of the major cities of South Korea, and this development clearly meets that need,” says Bill Hanley, group president of Vantage’s international division.
The hotel will house 342 guestrooms across 15 floors, many with views of the Sea of Japan. A buffet/restaurant, lounge, fitness center, convenience store, and four outdoor pools will be among the major features.
A top South Korean tourist destination and 2018 Winter Olympics host, the coastal city of Gangneung is only 30 minutes from the airport and will be an hour-long ride to Seoul once a new train line is completed.
The property is expected to open in late 2017.
