The Viejas Casino & Resort in San Diego has introduced the Willows Hotel & Spa. Locally based studio IGroup Design spearheaded the development of the luxe resort within a resort that is home to a full-service spa, fitness center, and salt water pool. The existing Viejas Casino was also expanded.
Positioned to maximize views of the Viejas Mountain, the property draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the surrounding scenery. Locally sourced materials including wood and stone are refined and polished with organic patterns like a willow motif. Suites are configured to promote relaxation with lounge-style living rooms as well as rich wood finishes, soft neutral tones, and notes of gold. The Willows Spa continues the tranquil theme with clean, white stones and blue mosaics.
Three new eateries have debuted onsite as well. Signature concept Locale Kitchen & Lounge is home to a lounge, open kitchen, bar, dining room, enclosed patio, and wine cellar, and features a range of finishes as well as an emphasis on gold metals, eclectic patterns, and textures. The Daily Roast functions as a key gathering spot, while the Ginger Noodle Bar conveys a sense of calm with rich, abstracted Asian elements and textures. Ginger is also outfitted with wood ceiling features, lighting, and semi-transparent elements.
