The W San Francisco has gotten an upgrade. Spearheaded by Portland-based Skylab Architecture, the hotel’s multi-phase redesign draws inspiration from the city’s robust history—from the Gold Rush to the psychedelic days of the 1960s and ’70s.
Bright guestrooms are outfitted with bespoke elements that promote sleep and relaxation. Prismatic headboards complement shimmering walls speckled with gold dust, reminiscent of sunlight cutting through the city’s iconic fog. The penthouse suite is newly upgraded with a medley of bold, solid surfaces and soft fabrics, while new upscale “glamping rooms” feature exterior terraces.

The reimagined FIT gym is housed beneath a glass dome, while the Social Terrace provides a multisensory experience for both fitness and play. The restaurant TRACE has also been updated with string drapes to perpetuate the fog theme, and the Upstairs Bar now boasts glass walls to enhance the privacy of alcove dining.
