Anbang Insurance Group and global construction firm AECOM Tishman will beging the first phase of renovations on the Waldorf Astoria New York next month. Chicago-based architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and Parisian interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon are collaborating on the redesign, which will see the city landmark restored with 350 new room and another 350 residences.
“It is an honor for us to join a world-class project team assembled for the renovation of the Waldorf Astoria New York,” says Jay Badame, president of AECOM Building Construction and AECOM Tishman. “We fully understand the significance of this massive undertaking and the importance this landmark holds for so many people in New York and around the world, and we look forward to working with the full team to bring this vision to life.”
Renovations are expected to remain ongoing for the next three years.
