YTL Hotels has added a fifth UK property to its portfolio with the acquisition of London’s Threadneedles Hotel, also its second Autograph Collection hotel in the UK, joining the Glasshouse in Edinburgh as well as Kuala Lumpur properties, the Majestic Hotel and the Hotel Stripes (set to debut this month).
Housed within a Victorian structure formally used as a banking hall in central London, the Threadneedles Hotel was restored to a luxury 5-Star property in 2002. Historic elements remain intact, such as the corniced ceilings, ornate wrought iron window grilles, and stained glass dome from the 1800s. The 74-room hotel is also home to Wheeler’s Restaurant, where a former banking counter has been repurposed as a champagne and oyster bar.
The hotel is walking distance from major attractions including the Bank of England, the old Royal Exchange, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Tate Modern Museum.
