JCJ Architecture has completed the new Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel on California’s Santa Catalina Island. Located in the island’s Avalon village, the hotel occupies two transformed three-story landmarks, as well as a new three-story building.
Guests are greeted with lobby interiors inspired by the surrounding California landscapes. A casual, eclectic flair complements rustic décor and sophisticated, coastal nods. Clean finishes and open furniture configurations accent the original Pueblo Revival style of the structure, while custom artwork instills a sense of place against a backdrop of refurbished details like wood plank doors, timber ceilings, and original plasterwork. The facility’s original 1957 arrowhead-shaped pool was also restored.
Cozy yet functional accommodations each overlook Avalon Bay and the mainland mountains. Suites are oriented around a terrace that tethers the guestroom wing to the main building.
