Italian furniture brand Arper suffered the loss of its founder and honorary president Luigi Feltrin, who passed away in Venice on Sunday, April 5th due to complications from the coronavirus. He was 85.
Feltrin founded Arper in Monastier di Treviso, Italy in 1989 with his sons Claudio, the company’s current president, and Mauro. Over the years, the brand has established itself in the international design sector, creating chairs, tables, and furnishings.
He moved to the Piedmont region of Italy when he was young, then to Switzerland, and then returned to Italy, beginning his entrepreneurial journey in Veneto. Feltrin initially dedicated his career to the processing of leather, which is where Arper’s expertise on the material began. Today, Arper has 260 employees, a turnover of 72 million euros, an export of 92 percent, and 12 showrooms worldwide. He visited the company daily up until just recently.
“My brother Mauro, my son Giulio, and particularly I were lucky enough to be able to work alongside my father at the company,” says his son Claudio Feltrin. “The past 48 years have enriched me in a priceless way, because with a mentor like him, one can only get better and better.”
