For Melk Café‘s third outpost in Montreal, locally based multidisciplinary studio La Firme was tasked with converting a cramped, triangular space into a bright and inviting coffee bar and café.
The design team—in collaboration with Melk Café co-founder Alexandre Baldwin—made the most of a difficult floorplan, which includes a curved wall and tapers to just two feet wide at one point, with a product line-style approach that puts the sleek machines on view. Custom-made, built-in booths that can accommodate up to 24 people further maximize the footprint.
Exposed plumbing and pipes combined with concrete walls and floors create an industrial feel, while pale green accents, white ceramic tiles, and light wood soften the light and airy interior.
