Formosa International Hotels Corporation (FIHC) has announced a new global leadership team for Regent Hotels & Resorts following the brand’s acquisition from Carlson and Rezidor. FIHC, which also owns the Regent Taipei, is also bringing the headquarters back to Asia. Regent founder Robert Burns returns as honorary chairman and will serve as the brand’s visionary. Ralf Ohletz, who worked with Regent co-founder Adrian Zecha for 25 years, has been named president.
The new Regent development focus will be partnering only with the very top developers and owners, with big expansion plans for China and an eye toward returning to Hong Kong, Los Angeles, London, and Shanghai. The brand also has projects in the pipeline for Abu Dhabi, Bali, Bangkok, Doha, Dubrovnik, Gurgaon, Kuala Lumpur, Maldives, Phuket, and Puerto Rico.
