A/D/O by Mini, a popular creative coworking and exhibition space in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, announced that it will permanently close its doors on May 31st, after nearly four years in operation.
“A/D/O was launched by MINI to empower the design community to explore creative solutions to improve urban life and it has always been a communal effort,” managing director Nate Pinsley said in a statement. “We are profoundly grateful to our Greenpoint neighbors, the international creative community, and our Brooklyn-based team and partners who made this unusual endeavor into something truly unique. Although we’ve made the difficult decision to close our doors, we’re confident the idea which has permeated everything we‘ve done—the belief that good design can change the world—will continue to inspire everyone who has been our part of our journey.”
Since its inauguration in early 2017, A/D/O has collaborated with more than 300 international designers, hosted nearly 40 installations and exhibitions—by talents such as Fernando Mastrangelo, Studio Swine, and Studio INI; and presented more than 400 public programs, including onsite workshops and lectures from Alice Rawsthorn to Yves Behar.
Although the space is shuttering later this month, the recently opened Japanese dining concept Rule of Thirds will remain in operation onsite under Sunday Hospitality Group.
