Apple Brompton Road has opened in the Knightsbridge section of London, positioned between upscale department stores Harvey Nichols and Harrods. Global architecture firm Foster + Partners, a frequent collaborator of the tech company, authored the new retail space, which is distinguished by floor-to-ceiling arched windows.
“Apple Brompton Road is a calm oasis in a bustling and vibrant part of London,” says Foster + Partners senior executive partner Stefan Behling. “Customers interact with Apple’s incredible range of products and experience their personalized customer service in a unique setting, which incorporates historic and natural elements.”
Beneath 23-foot-tall ceilings clad in undulating timber, the one-floor store is lined with eight Ficus trees—a nod to nearby Hyde Park. Castagna stone columns are featured at the heart of the space, culminating in a learning and event area equipped with a large video wall. Known as the Forum, this section of the store is outfitted with a mirrored ceiling composed of a specialized stretched fabric and audio technology discreetly integrated into the columns. Integrated fixtures are designed to echo the color and finish of the interior’s timber surfaces, wrapping the sundrenched space in a warm, soothing palette that further establishes nature as its muse. Stone and terrazzo are also featured to accent the bath stone and red brick façade.
