Delhi-NCR, one of India’s largest shopping hubs, has added a new boutique from Shakuntalam, a clothing retailer that offers a wide spectrum of festive Indian apparel. Crafted by locally based firm RMDK Architects, the store represents a dynamic, futuristic approach to India’s heritage.
The simple, contemporary design explores the richness of Indian cultural traditions across a rustic, earthy atmosphere. Details from traditional architecture and embroidery patterns are reinterpreted into patterns adorning the wood. Handcrafted luxury is further articulated with elements including wood, brass, and cane. The neutral color palette comprises white and wood tones, while checkered stone floors and wooden ceiling beams contrast sleek brass fixtures. A rear feature wall reimagines the act of sewing glass beads with a wooden column-like fixture that is supported with brass elements.
