Denmark-based firm Norm Architects has completed a new retail flagship for jewelry brand Dulong in Copenhagen. The minimalist concept pulls inspiration from the studios of artists and sculptors like Picasso and Brancusi to exude an inviting ethos that intersects artistic production and exhibition.
A natural materiality showcases handsome patinas to infuse an organic warmth across the store, while feminine colorways balance out a backdrop of blanched clay walls and ceilings. The golden hues of restored oak parquet floors complement honey-toned travertine, burnished brass, and caramel suede and linen curtains. Bespoke furniture composed of walnut further echoes this softness. In the rear of the store, a colonnade pays homage to Copenhagen’s Neoclassical architecture, and podiums displaying jewelry and artwork are installed between its niches. All additional counters, sideboards, coffee tables, and podiums were crafted by Norm Architects to accentuate the qualities of the jewelry upon the canvas of other custom designs.
