An upscale seven-room micro hotel—owned and operated by Audrey Boisvert and Gabriel Wasilko—has opened in the village of Sainte-Flore in Quebec, Canada.
Occupying a converted presbytery, Hotel Floriel features a unique concept in each of its guestrooms. The themes are based on design personality archetypes, baring names like Heart in Bloom, Legends and Fables, the Soul of the Forest.
Each accommodation has a similar architectural footprint, with colors, textures, furnishings, and textiles setting them apart, which allows guests to experience different design stories inspired by nature and the rhythm of the seasons.
Hotel Floriel is also a living showroom of art, furniture, and accessories from local manufacturers and makers. Guests have the opportunity to purchase these artisanal products onsite or online.
The hotel will soon provide postcards detailing what is featured in the rooms so guests can also revisit the design details following their stay.
“We want people to absorb the spaces and enjoy the pampered experience without any pressure to buy anything,” Wasilko explains. “At the same time, we want it to be easy for them to recall the things that captured their imaginations, and we are slowly building the how-tos of that business model.”
Hotel Floriel offers full buyouts for corporate or private events. In addition to the hotel’s guestrooms, its flexible common spaces include a bar area (with seating for up to 24 people), lounge, and large outdoor patio. With these event spaces and a church next door, the couple is also developing wedding packages, where newlyweds can take home the cutlery, dinnerware, and glassware sets after the party.
“We want Hotel Floriel to continue to evolve as a brand,” Boisvert adds. “That process includes consolidating our growing portfolio of suppliers to develop a transactional e-commerce platform that will facilitate the concept for all stakeholders.”
