Upscale outdoor hospitality brand Under Canvas has announced its first camp in California. Upon opening in spring 2025 near Yosemite National Park, Under Canvas Yosemite will mark the company’s 12th outpost in the U.S.
Located across 85 acres in a mountainside forest, Under Canvas Yosemite will feature safari-inspired tents furnished with king-size beds, luxe linens, USB charging packs, bedside lanterns, heated mattress pads, a private deck, and ensuite bathroom with a hot shower, sink, and flushing toilet.
The camp’s lobby tent includes communal lounge and dining areas, open game spaces, and an expansive yoga deck. The onsite dining program offers both al fresco and indoor café-style concepts.
Each of Under Canvas’ camps are designed to minimize disturbance, maximize open space, and integrate with the natural topography. In an effort to reduce energy, water usage, and carbon footprint, as well as maximize guests’ immersion in nature, Under Canvas camps feature pull-chain showers, low-flow toilets, rechargeable battery pack chargers, low-level lighting, and do not offer Wi-Fi.
Special accommodations at Under Canvas Yosemite include Stargazer Tents with a viewing window installed above the bed, as well as the El Capitan Suite Tent, which features two tents adjoined by a private deck and its own outdoor area.
Under Canvas also offers the first DarkSky-certified lodging properties in the world. The program recognizes a commitment to minimizing light pollution and protecting the night sky.
