Seattle-based department store chain Nordstrom has launched its highly anticipated New York flagship within the Central Park Tower, which is known as the tallest residential building in the word. Conceived by the locally based James Carpenter Design Associates, who partnered with the brand’s in-house design team, the expansive store spans across seven stories with five of its floors fronted by a curvy, gleaming glass façade, as the other two levels are located underground. The glass walls of Nordstrom New York are illuminated by LED lighting, while chainmail is suspended like a curtain to shade the interiors. Spanning the store’s loft-like floors beneath 19-foot-tall ceilings is off-white terrazzo throughout, creating a smooth flow inside.
The floor designated solely for high-fashion brands is home to areas curated just for them, such as Burberry’s section featuring a pistachio palette, while Chloé has a blush-pink decor. The luxurious flagship is home to luxury amenities such as the brand’s signature spa, Nordstrom Beauty Haven, Face Gym which famous for its facials, as well as the famed styling lounge, Trunk Club with nine fitting rooms. There is also a pop-up store of Burberry onsite, alongside a permanent Nike space wrapped in velvet.
Nordstrom New York offers nice F&B options, including a lounge crafted by local studio Rafael de Cárdenas, and the Northwest-inspired restaurant, Wolf, which has a separate entrance and operates after store hours.
