Kitchenware brand Our Place has launched its first brick-and-mortar space in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles. Crafted in collaboration with Mythology and Ringo Studio, the new store and café on Abbot Kinney makes an artful statement.
“Architecturally, we were inspired by the bold colors and geometric forms of Luis Barragán, among others, but at the heart of it, we wanted the space to feel like a beautiful home,” says Our Place founder Shiza Shahid. “It’s our goal that people step into the store and feel at home, instantly—and like they want to stay a while.”
Beyond the façade, a variety of textures—from recycled ceramic tiles to lime wash plaster walls—span the interior. Vibrant colorways, including Our Place’s signature Spice shade, channel an inviting, residential-style ambiance populated by sculptural displays and bespoke shelving distinguished by soft arches.
Finally, a back deck equipped with a long tablescape is home to Our Place’s Tableware collection as well as stadium and café seating ideal for events. A mural by Erika Jaquez acts as a key focal point in the backyard, paying homage to indigenous and immigrant communities.
“As a joyful, inclusive brand that’s all about bringing people together through cooking and gathering, it was important to us that the design reflect that through every detail,” Shahid adds. “We’re proud that the store is filled with nods to our mission around inclusion, representation, and building a bigger table.”
