Recent travel highlight
I was recently in Madrid and absolutely loved it. Madrid has two vibrant faces—a modern, bustling city, and an Old World rich in tradition. I am soaking up both faces of the city!
Latest lavish buy
A diamond ring from Paolobongia. It’s the first time I’ve splurged on a diamond for myself, but life is too short to wear boring jewelry.
Drink of choice
Champagne, especially Ruinart. As the great Coco Chanel said: ‘I only drink Champagne on two occasions. When I’m in love and when I’m not.’
Last extravagant meal
Duck in truffle sauce by Jean-François Piège. I still dream about it.
Hotel splurge
The Aman resorts in Bali, the Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley, and the Upper House in Hong Kong.
Preferred fine dining restaurant
Clover in Paris; El Paraguas in Madrid; Il Borro in Tuscany; and always, the Tower Bar in LA.
Luxury projects in the works
The VieVage Los Cabos, an Auberge property; a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris; a 400-room lifestyle hotel in Macau; and a boutique hotel in the design district of West Hollywood.

Pergola restaurant at the Marriott Nagoya Associa hotel in Japan.
Design inspiration
One of my idols is Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, but I’m mostly inspired by nature and art.
