San Francisco’s Spa Radiance now flaunts a European chicness in its redesign, thanks to Jay Jeffers of locally based Jeffers Design Group, who first designed the spa a decade earlier.

The space resembles a French boutique with a palette of soft gray and blue hues.

The design team took cues from sophisticated Paris residences, specifically those found in the iconic Place de Vosges area.

“I was inspired by an all-white, beautiful Parisian apartment,” explains Jeffers. “The walls were painted a chalky white, and we used rustic wide plank French oak floors and high ceilings.”

Industrial-style brass chandeliers and large-scale abstract artwork by Barbara Vaughn from local Dolby Chadwick Gallery create a classical style that meets modern sensibilities.

Jeffers explains that the spa’s challenge was utilizing resilient materials while creating a residential feel. “Using the rustic French oak floors was brilliant,” he says. “As they wear, it will add to the beauty of the space.”

“The reception area is such a departure from the design we did originally 10 years ago,” Jeffers says. “It is airy, sophisticated, and fabulous.”
