Contract magazine is pleased to present the winners of the 2020 Inspirations Awards, sponsored by Tarkett. The Inspirations Awards recognize a commitment to social responsibility in commercial interior architecture and design projects that improve the quality of life for those in need.
Through these awards, Tarkett provides generous grants to worthy causes, and has given over $100,000 over the course of 11 years. This year, the jury awarded three grants to the top projects. This year’s competition jury consisted of Bethany DeLine, HDR, New York; Tom Polucci, HOK, New York; and Joey Shimoda, Shimoda Design Group, Los Angeles.
This year’s Inspirations Awards winners are:
$10,000 top award: Asilong Christian High School in Pokot Valley, Kenya; designed by BNIM

$3,000 award: LA Food Policy Council, Lupita’s Corner in Los Angeles; designed by Gensler

$2,000 award: Food for Thought Truck in San Francisco, designed by Studio O+A

$1,000 honorable mention: Asian Health and Service Center in Portland, Oregon, designed by Holst Architecture

$1,000 honorable mention: Community Partners in New York, designed by Perkins and Will

$1,000 honorable mention: ASPCA Community Veterinary Center in Liberty City, Florida, designed by TSAO Design Group

After six decades, Contract shuttered last month. The July 2020 edition was the magazine’s final issue, and the team is continuing to publish content and newsletters through September 1. Additionally, the Contract Pavilion at ICFF will be reimagined with a focus on the future of workplace.
