Perkins Eastman has appointed Michael F. Maurer as the newest principal at its Chicago office.
A registered architect in Illinois and Colorado, Maurer has worked as a design principal, project architect-designer, and team leader for developer-driven hospitality projects for more than 25 years. His previous projects include the Waldorf Astoria and Godfrey Hotel in Chicago, and the Al Ghurair twin tower hotel and serviced apartments in Dubai, UAE.
“Mike is a tremendous addition to our Chicago team and the firm’s hospitality practice,” says Shawn Basler, principal, executive director, and hospitality practice leader for Perkins Eastman. “We are proud to welcome such a well-known and respected visionary in the hospitality design field.”
Having most recently worked with Washington, DC-based Lessard Design, Maurer also served as principal for seven years at Chicago-based Gettys Group, and previously worked as an associate for seven years with Chicago-based Lucien Lagrange Architects.
In addition to his experience in hotel design, Maurer has a wealth of design experience in adaptive reuse, multi-family, and mixed-use projects.
Maurer earned his bachelor’s degree in architectural studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
