After a 24-year career, Scott Lee will be retiring from his role as president and managing principal, Americas at 10SB (formerly SB Architects).
Throughout his tenure, Lee has been a driving force behind the growth of SB Architects. His leadership has led to securing iconic projects, such as Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Puerto Rico, the first purpose-built Ritz-Carlton Reserve; Calistoga Ranch, an Auberge Resort; Santana Row, a premier 40-acre mixed-use development; and the Omni PGA Frisco Resort.
This success paved the way for upcoming ventures like St. Regis Los Cabos at Quivira, and Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Costa Rica, which is slated to launch later this year.
“Over the past 24 years, I’ve witnessed remarkable change,” Lee shares. “Starting in 2000, when the firm was known as Sandy Babcock International, my role was to grow the firm in terms of size, quality, and recognition, focusing on expanding the firm’s practice beyond its 40-year history in residential, with an emphasis on hospitality. In collaboration with a fantastic team, dedicated partners, enthusiastic clients, and incredible brands, we surpassed our goals and broadened our international presence.”
“As I step down as president and managing principal, Americas, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished,” he continues. “The decision to retire was difficult, but it’s the right time for the next generation of leaders to chart their own course and build on our legacy. Merging with 10 Design strengthens our commitment to sustained growth and design excellence, as their global reach, leadership, and portfolio align with ours. Together, we’ll continue positioning ourselves as best in class, upholding our core values, expanding our presence, and delivering outstanding projects for discerning clients.”
Bruce Wright steps in
With Scott’s retirement, Bruce Wright, who has been with the firm since 2000, will assume the role of managing principal, Americas, working alongside the firm’s leadership team: Mark Sopp, Ted Givens, Jorey ‘Shosh’ Friedman, Pinar Harris, and Krystal Solorzano.
“Having had the privilege of working alongside Scott for 30 years, 24 of them at SB Architects (now 10SB), I’ve witnessed firsthand his passion for leadership, mentorship, and collaboration,” says Wright. “Scott’s commitment to cultivating strong leaders has prepared us well for this transition. As we move forward, I’m excited to embark on this next chapter with the talented and dedicated team in the U.S. and across the globe.”
10SB’s portfolio continues to expand its global reach, with several projects currently under construction in the Americas.
