Thompson Hotels has announced its plans to open the Cape, a luxury resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Owned by Vertex Real Estate Investors and Pentz & Partners and managed by Commune Hotels + Resorts, the 161-room beachfront hotel will be designed by Mexican architect Javier Sanchez of JSa Arquitectura and the design firm Arquitectura de Interiores led by Marisabel Gómez Vázquez.
“Our mission for the Cape has always been to create an environment evocative of both the brand’s urban roots and the resort’s seductive Baja setting,” says Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune Hotels & Resorts.
Midcentury modern elements will mingle with a 1960s Mexico-meets-Southern California aesthetic. The hotel will feature custom furniture handmade in Mexico and regional art curated with ceramicist José Noé Suro.
Every room has its own private terrace with views of Monument Beach, on which the Cape is situated. Amenities will include two beachfront pools, one built within a natural rock formation on site and the other infinity style; a swim-up bar; and a spa and fitness center. Bi-level suites with private rooftops will be available, some including outdoor daybeds and plunge pools.
The resort is slated to include multiple dining options, including a 114-seat signature restaurant, poolside bar and grill, sunken lobby bar, and al fresco rooftop lounge. The rooftop lounge will feature two bars, a terrace, and a sunken seating area with a fire pit. The property is scheduled to open this summer.
