Le Meridien Hotels has selected WATG’s Honolulu office to design the new Zhuhai ShiRong Le Meridien Hotel & Resort in Zhuhai Doumen, China.
Owned by Zhuhai Doumen District Shirong Industry, the 300-room hotel will be situated on a 12.5-hectare delta and include mixed-use elements, such as vacation residential villas, serviced apartments, and approximately 26,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
The property is slated to include a marina and an expansive bridge linking the resort to nearby Hong Kong and Macau.
“The resort design also incorporates a central gathering place or village hub,” says Sean Sih-Young Jeon, lead designer and vice president of WATG in Honolulu. “We attempted to get into the creative mind of the traveler, wanting the resort to represent more of what the guest is looking for in an urban setting.”
Le Meridien has been involved in the design process from the outset.
