Calgary-based Big Rock Brewery has partnered with Toronto-based restaurant developers Oliver & Bonacini for the launch of the modern brewpub Liberty Commons at Big Rock Brewery in Toronto. Drawing inspiration from traditional European beer halls, the brewpub is a collaboration between chefs Anthony Walsh and John Horne and brewmaster Connor K. Patrick. Opening this fall, it will be housed in the city’s Liberty Village within the renovated 60 Atlantic building.
Local firm the DesignAgency will inject the lively, two-level environment with a look both modern and nostalgic. A variety of seating areas will accommodate a wide array of occasions, from dinner celebrations to post-work drinks. Liberty Commons will be housed on the upper floor and include a contemporary bar and dining space, as well as a customizable private dining area and a patio with lounge seats and outdoor fireplaces. The Big Rock storefront on the ground floor will offer a tasting room, with a portion of the main level dedicated to a Big Rock retail space.
