The Twr y Felin Hotel has made its debut in the St. Davids Pembrokeshire region of Wales. Owned by Welsh lodging company Retreats Group, the hotel’s opening marks the brand’s third restoration project designed by international architecture firm Aedas Interiors.
Originally a circa-1802 windmill tower, the hotel is billed as the first art hotel in Wales, its historic architecture highlighted and revitalized with contemporary details and more than 100 pieces of original artwork by more than 20 local and international artists inspired by the St. Davids peninsula. The 21-guestroom hotel offers panoramic views of the water, and houses an onsite restaurant and gallery lounge.
Aedas and Retreats Group also collaborated on the restoration of the Roch Castle Hotel and the Penrhiw Hotel, also in Wales. Built in 1195 and rebuilt in 1900, the six-room Roch Castle Hotel has been updated with minimalist furniture and porcelains as well as a private kitchen, and a new glass-enclosed sunroom. The Penrhiw Hotel houses seven guestrooms adorned with artwork, furniture, and décor inspired by local landscapes. All three projects feature locally sourced, natural materials.
