In Gorakhpur, India, Dinner Bell restaurant merges Thai influences, Chinese heritage, and Buddhist symbolism into a single space designed by W5 Architects.
Marked by a bold red palette, the restaurant unveils new experiences at every turn, with steel pipe and circular bar partitions forming intricate gateways that invite diners to pause and explore the visual layers within.
Custom elements abound, like wallpaper inspired by Chinese scrolls and walls adorned with locally sourced lacquered glass. The ceiling, a dramatic focal point, features hand-cut PVC plumbing pipes dyed red and suspended in a parametric arrangement. Hand-fitted downlights within these tubes create a dramatic display of light and shadow.
Service stations, pieced together from waste plywood, add a touch of contemporary flair, while private dining areas feature steel frames clad in corrugated tin. The bar counter blends industrial materials—including metal mesh and pipes—with an artistic flair.
