Experimental Cocktail Club New York (ECC New York) has debuted in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron District.
The opening marks Paris-headquartered Experimental Group’s return to the Big Apple. The original ECC New York location operated on the Lower East Side until its closure in 2016.
The new space, a subterranean lounge nestled beneath French wine bar La Compagnie Flatiron, offers a dual-concept experience envisioned by designer Dorothée Meilichzon.

La Compagnie Flatiron
To access ECC, guests pass through La Compagnie, where the building’s early-20th-century Arts and Crafts architecture is preserved.
Exposed brickwork, wooden floors, and ornate ceiling details are paired with handcrafted additions, like cosmos-inspired light fixtures and moon-themed fabrics, lending a celestial ambiance to the wine bar’s setting.
The reimagined Experimental Cocktail Club
Entering through swinging saloon-style “martini doors,” guests are fully immersed in ECC, where Art Nouveau influences merge with modern design elements.
Meilichzon layered dark, moody tones with playful textures and reflective surfaces to create a space that is both dramatic and inviting. Organic forms—such as root-like structures extending from the ceiling and wrapping around columns—offer a sense of movement, while mirrors amplify the depth of the rom.
At the center of ECC is a striking U-shaped black marble bar, accented with a salmon-pink front and stainless steel footrest. Vintage and modern furnishings complement the space’s richly textured walls and floors.
Glass sconces cast a soft glow throughout the lounge, with spotlights accentuating key architectural details. A vintage piano, topped with a built-in DJ stand, anchors the space—bridging nostalgia and modernity while paying homage to ECC’s Paris and London roots.
