Chef Kelvin Cheung has unveiled Jun’s, a modern, minimalist Asian and North American fusion concept in downtown Dubai.
Spread across more than 5,500 square feet, the sleek-yet-rustic design by local firm 4SPACE affirms the importance of community. “We drew inspiration for the preliminary design from traditional horse stables focused on celebrating life and creating a friendly space for the community,” says 4SPACE cofounder and design director Firas Alsahin. “We wanted to create a sleek, contemporary venue with slightly rough edges.”
A natural and textural materiality of timber, marble, and white bricks comprise Jun’s soft, sand-colored palette. The standout bar is crafted from a cliff fascia and topped with marble to highlight the brand story, while sustainable pebbledash wraps the columns in contrast to brown timber walls, floors, and ceilings. “The neutral colors throughout the space create a sense of calm and comfort that encourages visitors to stay longer than they would in other experiential outlets,” Alsahin adds.
An elevated seating area is fixed at the heart of the dining room as well. Artfully frenetic Italian I-Mesh is suspended from ceilings as a focal point beside installations of pampas and mirror against which the neon Jun’s logo pops.
