Modern Italian restaurant Sartiano’s has opened inside SoHo’s Mercer Hotel, in the space that was previously the Mercer Kitchen. Bond Hospitality founder Scott Sartiano—the force behind New York’s buzzed-about members-only club Zero Bond—conceived the eatery to pay homage to his family roots in Naples.
Helmed by local firm Studio Sofield, the interior design captures a timeless allure, drawing inspiration from Sartiano’s journeys to Tuscan villas and landmarks—like the Villa Borghese in Rome—with touches of azzurro blue. The main dining room features an open kitchen, a pink Himalayan salt meat display, comfortable banquettes, and a communal table for 10, all highlighting the centerpiece 20-foot-long bar adorned with Italian Carrara marble.
A discreet private dining room provides an intimate setting, while an onsite café hosts brunch and lunch.
Merging downtown New York sophistication with the restaurant’s Mediterranean aesthetic, staff uniforms were designed by tailor Michael Andrews Bespoke. The ensemble showcases blue sharkskin suits with navy satin lapels, tastefully paired with light blue shirts as a departure from the common white dress shirt.
“For years, I’ve envisioned opening a restaurant that captures the essence of my family’s journey across Italy and the United States; and when the Mercer Kitchen space became available, it seemed like fate,” says Sartiano. “This iconic hotel and legendary SoHo corner have held special places in my heart.”
