The Halfway Crooks Beer brewery has opened inside a century-old brick structure in the Summerhill neighborhood of Atlanta, led by locally based design firm Square Feet Studio.
The brewery is infused with an elevated notion of craft and nuance. Grandmotherly patterns and mismatched furniture populate the interior as a nod to the lived-in cafés of Belgium. Old interior walls inform the brewery’s palette, which honors the building’s legacy with its nearly unaltered patina. Handmade Mexican tiling is installed in addition to classic marble baseboards against a backdrop of handcrafted carpentry, while tech equipment injects the interior with computer coding and graphics.
Traditional molding wraps the climate- and humidity-controlled barrel room in an unconventional arrangement that appear as a Baroque-like mass that frame views of the aging beer.
